WISTA receives observer status at the UN trade organization UNCTAD Ship’s crew

WISTA International, the international organization dedicated to advancing women and diversity in the shipping and logistics industry, has been recognized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as an observer, allowing the organization to have representatives to attend public intergovernmental meeting can appoint .

The approval reinforces WISTA’s commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women in the shipping and trading industries, and creates opportunities to work with UNCTAD in shaping the future of sustainable trade and development.

WISTA’s observer status came into effect on July 6, 2023 following a recent decision at the UNCTAD meeting in Geneva last month.

WISTA already works closely with the United Nations International Maritime Organization to promote gender diversity in the maritime sector and has had consultative status with the IMO since 2018.

“The recognition of WISTA International as an observer by UNCTAD is a significant achievement for our organization.
