VO Chidambaranar Port Authority to provide enterprise level enterprise software

“VOCPA is working with IIT Madras to implement machine learning-based predictive analytics in port operations, which would provide real-time predictive information based on artificial intelligence models. The port is in the process of acquiring drones for security patrols, environmental monitoring and conducting search and rescue operations.”

VOCPA is poised to become the first smart port of India to have implemented enterprise-level intelligent enterprise software (ERP). The software is cloud-capable and the exchange with employees and stakeholders takes place digitally. The port operating systems, terminal operating systems, e-office, e-procurement, e-payment system and GIS are used extensively. Indigenous VTS and AI and ML based solutions have been developed with support from IIT-M to increase business efficiency and automation.

In order to increase the efficiency of port operations and enhance the customer experience, VOCPA has initiated a number of IT initiatives, including Enterprise Resource Planning to manage the port’s core business processes, GIS to monitor port sites and special planning, RFID systems to manage entry permits, VTS for vessel traffic tracking and e-Office and e-DMS for paperless office. The VOCPA is India’s first major port to have migrated all IT infrastructure to cloud-based storage. The port has a data center and a data recovery center.
