Vizag Port set to surpass 80 million MTPA in next year or two: Chairman

according to dr Visakhapatnam Port Authority Chairman Madhaiyan Angamuthu said the port on India’s east coast will surpass 80 million MTPA throughput in a year or two. Speaking to a media outlet, Dr. Angamuthu said the port has adopted the landlord’s operating model, increased capacity and also taken measures to handle clean cargo such as food grains, processed foods and seafood. As a result of all these measures, he said he was confident of exceeding the 80 million mark in the next one to two years.

Speaking about the major ongoing capacity expansion projects, he said that the Eastern Quay-1 berth will be rebuilt at a cost of Rs.347.79 million; a merger of berths EQ-1 and EQ-1A is under consideration; A concession agreement was also signed for the mechanization of EQ-7 for handling fertilizer and bulk cargo.
