Vidarbha is to become a logistics center, says dy CM Fadnavis

Deputy Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Sunday Vidarbha will be developed into a logistics hub through the development of roads, airports and railways.

The option of sustainable irrigation will be available in the next few years through the Wainganga-Nalganga river link project, after which the region would never face water shortages again, he said.

Speaking to attendees at a conference on Vidarbha development organized by the Vivek Spark Foundation and the Vidarbha Economic Development (VED) Council, Fadnavis said that Vidarbha is poised to become a leading region in terms of development and social will develop security.

“The BJP’s twin-engine government has given new development wings to an economically backward region that has suffered several decades of development discrimination during the Congressional administration. Now the development of Vidarbha is progressing thanks to the Samruddhi Expressway, which will boost the economy of the state,” he said.

Stressing that central and state governments have already started efforts to make Vidarbha a drought-free, economically prosperous industrial and logistics hub in the future, Fadnavis said he started the development process when he was prime minister from 2014 to 2019 was, and now he was in on it, was put in the fast lane.

“Despite the discrimination Vidarbha has faced over the years, the region is now making progress day and night. The new airport of Nagpur is under construction soon. The collector has been given the powers of joint managing director of the Mihan project so that decisions can be made quickly,” he said.

Fadnavis said of his pet project, Jal Yukta Shivar, that it helped raise the water table in Maharashtra.
