Union and state government sign memorandum of understanding for the 1141 hectare PM-MITRA Park in Vansi-Bordi in Gujarat

The Government of Gujarat and the Government of India today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Navsari district of South Gujarat. The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Textile Minister Piyush Goyal.

Covering 1,141 hectares of land in Vansi Borsi, Jalalpore taluka, Navsari district of Gujarat, this mega-integrated garment park aims to not only boost Gujarat’s textile industry, but also to create new job opportunities across the state, including South Gujarat. The park will facilitate the integration of the entire textile value chain, from cotton to yarn, from yarn to garment manufacturing and the sale and export of finished garments, all in a single location. This integration is in line with the Prime Minister’s vision “Farm to Fiber to Factory to Fashion to Foreign” (the 5F vision). In addition, these parks will help India achieve the United Nations’ nine Sustainable Development Goals.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal said of the program: “This PM MITRA textile park is not a new idea but has its roots in the time when Prime Minister Modi served as Gujarat Prime Minister.” As we recognized the challenges that were fragmented, spread across different sites litigation, the cost of our products remained high and we struggled to compete in the global marketplace. PM Modi envisioned a new approach in the textile sector that would focus on quality, global competitiveness and the promotion of mass production.”

“The establishment of PM MITRA Park in Gujarat or any state is not just out of favoritism, but is the result of intense competition and evaluation of multiple criteria such as connectivity, industrial ecosystem, government policies on industry and textiles, power and water availability and environmental impact. After Prime Minister’s mapping of all sites, Gati Shakti Navsari was chosen. Also, no one can ignore the fact that Gujarat has established itself as a front runner in various aspects including Logistics Performance, NITI Aayog’s Export Preparedness Index, National Startup Rankings, Good Governance Index and Ease of Doing Business. These achievements reflect the well-developed ecosystem in the state,” he added.

On that occasion, Gujarat BJP Chief and Navsari MP CR Patil said, “The textile park comes to Gujarat because of the security of investment and the necessary business environment for the industry.” The state has an abundance of skilled labor and im Compared to other states, Gujarat has excess energy for industry. I am very confident that after the establishment of this mega textile park, not a single person from Navsari will have to leave their homeland to work.”DeshGujarat.
