The railway registers 144 million tons of cement, clinker loading in FY 23

Indian Railways registered 144 million tons of cement and clinker cargo in FY23.

The South Central Railways, one of the leading zones in rail transport of cement, achieved a cement load of 34,499 tons in 2022-23.

Incidentally, last year’s SCR cement loading is also the best initial loading ever achieved by the zone in cement and clinker.

Indian Railways, including SCR, have recently taken various tariff and non-tariff measures to improve cement transportation by railways.

This was announced at a national level meeting organized by the railways with the Cement Manufacturers Association and other stakeholders here.

Business development units have been formed at both zone and district level, not only to strengthen the existing traffic, but also to open loading points.

The senior officers of the Railway Board and South Central Railways pledged cooperation for the growing cement sector and also outlined various upcoming infrastructure projects and measures taken to support the cement sector.
