The DPA is providing Rs.11.38 million for waste disposal under the Swachh Gandhidham Initiative

As part of the Swachh Gandhidham Initiative, a meeting was held at the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Gandhidham, where Shri Vinodbhai Chavda, Hon’ble MP; Shri SK Mehta, IFS, President DPA; Shri Devji Varchand, President Kutch BJP; Mr. Nandeesh Shukla, Dy. Chairman DPA; Smt. Maltiben Maheshwari, Hon’ble MLA; Smt. Ishita Tilwani, President of the Gandhidham Congregation; Shri Teja Kangad, President of GCCI, was present.

The DPA Chairman emphasized the importance of Clean Gandhidham in line with the Indore City Model, which has been declared the cleanest city in India. A team of experienced staff was dispatched who, after conducting investigations at various locations and discussions with the authorities concerned, produced a detailed, comprehensive report. Based on the report, an action plan was drawn up by the DPA’s CSR team. The main features of the action plan were explained by Dy. Chair through power point presentation.

The Inspectorate was informed that Rs. 11.38 crore for IEC activities (information, education and communication) for a period of 3 years and installation of dry and wet waste materials. It was also communicated that the municipality will continue to collect house-to-house waste from the municipality’s households. However, there is a systematic and proper separation according to the SOPs. The operation and maintenance of the processing facilities are the responsibility of the Gandhidham Municipality. However, Gandhidham Municipality is not required to allocate additional funds for these activities. As the municipality has difficulties in finding suitable land for the disposal of the solid waste, the DPA has approved approx. 6 hectares of land for the disposal of the waste and processing plants will also be built in this area for this purpose.

The Honorable MP, the Honorable MLA and President Kutch BJP and the President of Gandhidham Parish expressed their gratitude for the generous and magnanimous approach of the Chairman and Dy. Chairman, DPA. They also pledged their full cooperation to achieve the larger goal of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Concluding the meeting, Shri Vinod Chavda, Honorable MP, expressed the view that “The MoU should be signed at the earliest, at the initiative of “Swachh Gandhidham” as part of Swachh Bharat, the dream of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. ‘ will be realized through the efforts of all participants attending this meeting.
