The Silver Spirit, the sixth cruise ship of the current season, called at the NMPA and docked at 0800 on March 21, 2023. The ship with 497 passengers and 411 crew members docked next to berth No. 04. The total length of the ship is 210.70 meters with a deadweight tonnage of 39,444 GT and a draft of 6.60 meters.
The ship’s last port of call was the Port of Cochin, and after leaving Mangalore, it will sail to the Port of Mormugao. The passengers were warmly welcomed with traditional drums (chende). Arrangements have been made for the pleasant experience of the cruise passengers, such as: medical examination of passengers, multiple immigration and customs counters for quick movement, 25 bus buses including 02 shuttle buses for passengers visiting local markets and shops in and around Mangalore city, taxis, tourist vans, etc.
The cruise passengers also took advantage of the meditation center set up by the Department of AYUSH in the cruise lounge. Clothing and handicraft shops were also kept open for the tourists. As a special attraction, the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India representing the regional culture.
The passengers visited various tourist destinations like; Achal Cashew Factory, Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara Temple, Kadri Majunatheshwara Temple, St. Aloysius Chapel, Local Market, Pilikula Artisan Village, Thousand Pillars Basadi and Soans Farm. As a memento of their visit to Mangalore, cruise passengers were presented with souvenirs while returning to their ship. The ship sailed to its next destination, the Port of Mormugao, GOA, at 6:00 p.m.
