Porter launches intra-city logistics services in Cochin

Porter, a domestic logistic start-up, has entered the state of Kerala with the introduction of technology-enabled logistic services in Cochin. The diversified logistics platform will ensure smooth, efficient and safe movement of goods within the city.

The company is initially adding local rider partners to its on-demand three-wheeler services while planning to introduce other vehicle categories, including two-wheelers, in the coming months.

The shift in global supply chains has prompted companies to plan their operations to provide efficient last-mile delivery, resulting in a surge in logistics demand in Tier II and Tier III cities, including Cochin has. This demand will directly impact the need for more capital investment and recruitment.

With the launch in Cochin, Porter’s market entry will be an opportunity to provide relevant jobs to gig workers, particularly those who own or are considering purchasing their own vehicles (e.g. mini trucks). This makes the state a potential hub for job creation.

The 8-year-old start-up focuses on an empathetic approach in its policies and is committed to ensuring the financial stability of its workforce through a steady flow of income.

Porter offers a flexible work model that does not force driver partners to work in a full-time position. Instead, Rider Partners can make money while enjoying the flexibility to choose their own hours as they please.

Entering the Cochin market will open up new growth opportunities for driver partners and customers as Porter facilitates the matchmaking process between the two. The company will consider significant marketing investments through OOH marketing, campaigns, etc. in the first year of launch.

Established in 2014, Porter is one of India’s leading logistics companies offering a wide range of intra-city and inter-city services. Porter has served over 1 million customers in 18 cities in India and employs 2,600 people.
