Port work in Ramayapatnam picks up speed

YSRCP Kandukuru MLA M Maheedhar Reddy has said Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate Ramayapatnam Port soon.

The MLA, along with Collector M Harinarayananhas, inspected the work in progress at Ramayapatnam Port on Wednesday.

While expressing satisfaction with the progress of the port works, the MLA recalled that the Prime Minister laid the groundwork for the port works last year. The work is now being carried out quickly, he said.

The MLA indicated that the land acquisition in Karlapalem village had already been completed and hoped the first ship would arrive at Ramayapatnam port next January.

District Collector M. Harinarayanan has directed officials to ensure that the relief and rehabilitation package is completed as early as possible on behalf of the displaced families of Avulavari Palem and Mondi Palem-2 villages.

He called on port officials to provide infrastructure facilities such as CC roads, drinking water and a school at the site where displaced families are to be resettled. He asked officials to come up with a comprehensive plan for the planned work.

The collector also directed port authorities to prioritize local people in providing jobs in line with the norms.

Port General Manager Prathap Reddy said the R&R program will be implemented with Rs 13.5 million. He assured that local people would be provided with jobs and their standard of living would be improved. Joint Collector Kurmanath, Sub-Collector Sobhika, Port Vice-President Nagarjuna and others were present.
