Construction on the Centerm Port of Vancouver expansion project is now complete, Canada’s Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA) has confirmed.

The expansion project, carried out in partnership with UAE-based terminal operator DP World, will provide additional capacity, allowing Centerm to handle up to 60 percent more containers.

Completed works include the extension of the terminal area to the west and east, reconfiguration and expansion of the container warehouse, construction of truck gates, expansion of the intermodal warehouse, construction of a new facility and enhancement of nearby marine habitats.

According to VFPA, the expanded terminal will have a capacity of 1.5 million TEU and will be fully operational later this year.
