PM Modi commends Tuticorin Port’s achievement in surpassing cargo target

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the performance of the Tuticorin VOC port, which has recorded annual growth of 11.35% and surpassed the cargo throughput target set by the Ministry of Shipping and Ports.

The port has handled 36.03 million tons of cargo as of March 14, beating the ministry’s 17-day advance target of 36 million tons for the 2022-23 fiscal year ending March 31.

In response to a tweet from VO Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tuticorin, the Prime Minister replied: “Good! India’s port sector is growing rapidly and contributing to economic progress.”
