PM MITRA Textile Park in Maharashtra to attract investment of ₹10,000

Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) textile park, which opened yesterday in Amravati, Maharashtra, is expected to attract ₹10,000 crore of investment and create jobs for over 300,000 people.

During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), the Government of Maharashtra, and the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India to establish the PM MITRA Park.

The park covers a contiguous 1,020-hectare land in Nandgaon Peth, adjacent to the Additional Amravati Industrial Area (MIDC), and is just 30 kilometers from the Mumbai Nagpur Samruddhi Highway and 147 kilometers from the nearest port, Wardha Dry Port. As a brownfield park, it already has essential infrastructure such as roads, water and electricity, the Ministry of Textiles said in a press release.

At the opening ceremony of Textile Park in Amravati, Indian Minister of Textiles, Trade and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal congratulated the state of Maharashtra and said that the addition of Prime Minister MITRA Park would further strengthen the rapid progress of Maharashtra.

Minister Goyal added that given Maharashtra’s significant contributions along the entire textile value chain, from farm to fiber and factory to fashion and abroad, it is a natural choice for a textile park. He also stressed that Amravati’s well-connected infrastructure, including road, rail, port and airport networks, will greatly boost the textile industry in Maharashtra.

Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshana Jardosh stressed that the establishment of PM MITRA Parks in various states including Amravati, Maharashtra is a crucial step in making India a global center of textile production. She added that the integrated park would attract more investment to Maharashtra, create employment opportunities and encourage innovation, research and education in the textile sector.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the groundbreaking of the two mega textile parks in Maharashtra and Gujarat in recent days. “The foundation stones for the mega textile parks 2 PM-MITRA have been laid in the last few days. These parks will be established in Amravati, Maharashtra and Navsari, Gujarat. They will increase productivity, encourage innovation and create many job opportunities,” Prime Minister Modi said in a tweet.
