PM Hasina offers India to use ports of Chittagong, Sylhet

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday stressed the need to improve regional connectivity to boost trade and commerce, offering India to use Chittagong and Sylhet ports for mutual benefit.

“India can use our Chittagong and Sylhet ports if it wants,” she said when Ram Madhav, a member of the Governing Council of India Foundation, visited her at her Ganabhaban official residence.

PM Deputy Press Secretary KM Shakhawat Moon briefed reporters after the meeting.

Sheikh Hasina mentioned that improved connectivity in the regions will help improve people-to-people contacts.

She conveyed her greetings to the Prime Minister of India through Ram Madhav.

Highly appreciating the socio-economic progress in Bangladesh under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s unprecedented leadership, Ram Madhav said, “Bangladesh and India have an excellent friendship as neighboring countries and hope this relationship will continue in the future.”

Ambassador M. Ziauddin, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs M. Shahriar Alam and Prime Minister M. Tofazzel Hossain Miah, among others, attended the meeting.
