Nhava Sheva Distribution Terminal receives mobile harbor crane

NSDT consists of a shallow water berth and a dedicated coastal berth with quay lengths of 320m and 250m respectively. After acquiring both berths from the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), NSDT is in the process of upgrading the existing infrastructure and facilities.

According to JM Baxi Ports & Logistics, part of this process will be the delivery of three mobile port cranes. The first crane arrived at the facility on July 17 and will be used at the shallow water berth. Delivery of the following two similar capacity cranes is scheduled for late August; One will join the first crane at the shallow water berth and the other will go to the shore berth.

JM Baxi Ports & Logistics said the introduction of the terminal’s first mobile dockside crane means it is better equipped to handle multi-purpose cargo – including containers, steel, bulk, breakbulk and project cargo – more efficiently.
