Minister Shripad Naik visits the Port of New Mangalore

Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, Waterways and Tourism Shripad Yesso Naik visited the port of New Mangalore on Monday.

The minister was welcomed by Port Authority Deputy Chairman KG Nath along with senior port officials. Mr. Naik oversaw berth operations and various port infrastructure facilities using a tugboat. Mr. Nath updated the minister on several infrastructural and technological advances that the port is using.

Mr. Naik was previously awarded a ceremonial honor guard by the NMPA’s Central Industrial Security Force unit.

His tour was followed by a meeting with the port’s senior officials where he was briefed by Mr. Nath on the port’s functionality and future plans including a variety of initiatives being undertaken to improve operations, green port initiatives etc. He was also briefed on the future expansion programs, infrastructure projects and other proposals to increase the port’s productivity.

The Minister praised the port’s growth in cargo handling, operations, future plans and various initiatives by the port to introduce environmentally friendly, state-of-the-art facilities.
