Maersk expands Port of Jeddah operations

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the addition of AE12 and AE7 shipping services to Jeddah Islamic Port by logistics giant Maersk as part of efforts to connect the Kingdom to global markets and open up new investment opportunities.

With a capacity of 18,000 TEU and 12 vessels, the AE7 route includes 15 port calls at Ningbo-Zhoushan, Shanghai, Nansha, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo, Tangier, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Felixstowe, London Gateway, Salalah and Khalifa , and Jebel Ali.

On the other hand, the AE12 service connects Jeddah to 13 global hubs in Southern Europe, Africa and East Asia via a fleet of 12 vessels with a capacity of 15,000 TEU.

The recent expansion of the Kingdom’s global maritime network underscores Mawani’s commitment to driving impactful collaborations with strategic partners such as Maersk and Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT), which boost the country’s standing in international indices such as UNCTAD’s Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI). want ), alongside positioning the Islamic port of Jeddah as a prime destination for trade and economic growth in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) vision.
