Kolkata Port Chairman visits Balagarh hub

Kolkata Port (Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port) Chairman PL Haranadh, along with Vice Chairman Samrat Rahi, visited the site of the Extended Port Gate Facility at Balagarh. The project is planned to relieve the Kolkata Dock System and will have two berths on 100 acres in the initial phase.

The proposed cost of the project is around Rs 450 crore, of which Rs 350 crore is planned as an investment by PPP partners for the construction of berths. The port plans to invest another Rs 100 crore in infrastructure development. The SMP boss examined the possible connectivity options, project setups, burdens and initiatives on how to proceed. The port is in talks with CESC and other stakeholders on this.
