Jeddah Port sets a new container record in June with over 470,000 TEU

Jeddah Islamic Port achieved the largest container throughput in a single month in June, handling 473,676 TEU, up 16% from the same month in 2022.

Major shipping companies added eight cargo services to Jeddah in the first six months of the year, offering sea connections to 260 ports in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, America and the Indian subcontinent, contributing to increased cargo trade and investment in the country.

“The operational success includes large-scale growth strategies by the Saudi Ports Authority to improve and expand the Red Sea hub, including a 9 billion riyal concession with DP World to expand capacity at the South Container Terminal to 13 million TEU, which is in line with the Saudi Ports Authority’s long-term goals to position Jeddah as one of the top ten ports and achieve the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS),” the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) said in a statement.
