Hapag-Lloyd’s new West Africa service calls APM Terminals Liberia

APM Terminals has announced the first call of Hapag-Lloyd’s new bi-weekly West Africa (WA1) service to Monrovia, the capital of Liberia.

The bi-weekly service connects Tanger Med (Morocco), Nouakchott (Mauritania), Freetown (Sierra Leone), Conakry (Guinea), Monrovia (Liberia) and back to Tanger Med.

APM Terminals Monrovia is the country’s only container and breakbulk facility. Recent dredging has widened the harbor channels and removed around a million cubic meters of sediment. This has increased the terminal’s draft from 9.5 to 12.5 meters, allowing larger ships to reach the free port.

“We are very satisfied with the preparation, handling and continued support from Hapag Lloyd on this first call. We are proud to provide a smooth launch into their new market and look forward to increasing volumes,” stated Thomas Moore, Head of Commercial at APM Terminals Liberia.
