Hapag-Lloyd imposes a congestion surcharge in the port of Mersin

Hapag Lloyd has announced that it will introduce a congestion surcharge (CGD) for containers calling at the port of Mersin in Turkey.

The surcharge is US$150 per TEU and US$300 per FEU for dry and refrigerated containers.

Hapag-Lloyd announced that the surcharge will apply from July 17 for containers with the following “geographical scope”:

  • From the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent to Mersin
  • From Far East to Mersin

The Middle East and Indian Subcontinent includes the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, while the Far East includes Brunei, China, and Hong Kong Indonesia includes , Japan, Cambodia, Korea, Myanmar, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam
