GSL launches LPG bottle transport ship

Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) launched an LPG bottle carrier ship for Lakshadweep on Friday. The ship, the second in a series of two ships, will be handed over to Lakshadweep’s Port Shipping and Aviation Department upon commissioning.

The ship is to transport LPG bottles or 60 tons of packaged petroleum products from the mainland to the Lakshadweep Islands.

The ship was launched by GSL Additional Magician General Bindu Abraham in the presence of GSL Chairman and Chief Executive BK Upadhyay and other officials.

The ship is capable of a speed of 11 knots, can last ten days at sea and can carry a crew of 18 people on board.

This merchant vessel was designed and built to Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) class and complies with merchant shipping rules and regulations.
