Gangavilas in Barisal on the return journey

The Indian tourist ship Gangavilas arrived at the river port of Barisal around 3.30 p.m. on Monday with four German and two Swiss tourists.

Additional Superintendent of Police Farhad Sardar and officials from the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and Tourist Police greeted the ship and its guests in port.

Meanwhile, the tourists said they are very happy to come to Bangladesh as they enjoy the country’s natural scenery. The tourists are here courtesy of a travel agency called Journeyplus.

Kayes Khan, an agency official, said that this cruise ship left Dibrugarh, in the Indian state of Assam, on March 1 with six tourists. The ship entered Bangladesh via Chilmari, Kurigramon on March 13 on its return voyage.

It leaves Barisal for Kolkata on Tuesday.

In Barisal, the tourists visited the Oxford Mission Church and the Kuriana waterways and floating markets in Banaripara.
