Flipkart’s delivery division Ekart launches multi-logistics service for MSMEs and retailers

Ekart, the supply chain arm of Flipkart, on Monday rolled out its B2B delivery across India and first-mile pickup for businesses with a fleet of over 7,000 GPS-enabled trucks.

The service is offered by air and land and is aimed at MSMEs, including manufacturers and retailers, as well as brands in all sectors.

Ekart said the service will offer businesses multiple “alternatives for transporting goods” via 21 airports in major Indian cities and a network of full truckload (FTL) and less than truckload (PTL) trucks.

A shipment where the truck is fully staffed with goods and responsible for moving goods from one point to another is known as an FTL, while a partially loaded truck is known as a PTL.

Land transportation will be offered to businesses from 80 hubs across the country, connecting key logistics corridors and supported by the fleet of closed container trucks with Digilock, which travel an average of 800 kilometers per truck per day nationwide, the company said.

Mani Bhushan, chief business officer at Ekart, said the B2B transportation solution eliminates issues such as numerous middlemen, delivery delays, shipment damage and shipment visibility.

“Our Air Express option ensures fast and reliable nationwide transportation of critical shipments. With our deep understanding of the value chain, we not only simplify B2B transportation for companies, but also empower them to focus on their core competencies and thus contribute to the overall economy,” he said.

Ekart offers brands, platforms and companies end-to-end supply chain and inventory management, including distribution and aggregation of products.

The company has a network of fulfillment and sorting centers and thousands of delivery centers. According to the company, over 120 million parcels are delivered every month using all usable PIN codes.
