FIRST and CAIT join forces to digitize 11,000 MSMEs in Gujarat

The Forum for Internet Retailers, Sellers & Traders (FIRST) held “Future Proofing of Indian Enterprises”, a digitization summit in Surat. Significantly, the Surat Chapter of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has pledged its support for the campaign, which aims to raise awareness and help small businesses go digital and become self-reliant.

The digitization boom in India presents MSMEs with a promising opportunity to leverage e-commerce platforms and unlock benefits such as greater customer reach, streamlined operations and lower entry barriers to goods export. E-commerce has enabled the digital transformation of MSMEs with minimal cost and investment, while contributing to their presence in all markets. According to a recent FIRST retail report, 72.5 percent of retailers have a high level of adoption for adopting digital tools to improve store operations and offerings, with 53 percent using them to improve collaboration between departments.

Known for its thriving MSME sector, Gujarat boasts the fourth highest number of MSMEs in India. With the recent surge in digitization and e-commerce growth, it has become imperative for these businesses to embrace digital transformation and adopt e-commerce platforms to remain competitive in the market.

Pramod Bhagat, President of CAIT, said: “By embracing the digital revolution, you have the opportunity to unlock new growth opportunities and build a sustainable and successful business. Don’t wait for change – be the change that transforms your business and puts it on the road to success.”

Mitesh Shah, Secretary General, Gujarat Chapter, CAIT, stated: “Research your business, plan to the max, network relentlessly and embrace digital planning – these are the keys to future-proofing your business and making it sustainable. By committing to micro-planning and harnessing the power of technology, you can build a business that will stand the test of time and continue to thrive for years to come.”

Vinod Kumar, President of India SME Forum and Trustee and President of FIRST said: “Adopting digital transformation is not an option, it is a necessity for retailers and MSMEs to thrive in today’s world. Future-proofing your company begins with preparing your company for future market and customer requirements. By embracing technology and staying ahead of the curve, retailers and MSMEs can create a sustainable and futuristic business that can withstand any challenge and embrace new opportunities.”
