DPIIT announces final date for LEAPS 2023

A recent announcement by the Department for the Promotion of Industry and Domestic Trade (DPIIT) – under the Government of India’s Department of Trade and Industry – mentioned that applications for the Logistics Excellence, Advancement and Performance Shield (LEAPS) 2023 are open until May 14th are open , 2023. This program aims to recognize and reward logistics companies that have demonstrated excellence and excellence in the logistics sector.

The LEAPS program was developed with the aim of promoting the adoption of best practices and innovative technologies in the logistics sector, improving the competitiveness of Indian logistics companies and fostering sustainable growth in the logistics industry.

To qualify for LEAPS 2023, logistics companies must have been in operation for at least 2 years with a minimum annual turnover of INR 10 crores. Startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), large corporations and government organizations are all eligible to apply for the LEAPS 2023 awards. Participation in LEAPS is voluntary, and each individual entity may apply for up to two showcase categories for LEAPS.

Entrants are evaluated against a range of criteria that include their operational performance, customer feedback, innovation, sustainability practices and social responsibility. The program will also take into account the specific challenges faced by the logistics sector in India.

The LEAPS program is a much needed step in promoting excellence in the logistics sector in India.

The logistics industry plays a crucial role in the country’s economic growth and development, and the LEAPS program will encourage logistics companies to adopt best practices and innovative technologies, improve their competitiveness and foster sustainable growth in the industry.

LEAPS aims to create a new benchmark in India as well as globally by recognizing not only players in the logistics sector but also MSMEs, startups and logistics innovators who have provided innovative solutions across the logistics ecosystem. The key guiding principles for LEAPS are:

  • Coverage of all logistics sectors and ecosystem enablers
  • Special focus on MSME and startups
  • Ensuring diversity, inclusion and ESG best practices in the logistics industry will be presented
  • Alignment with PM Gatishakti’s goals
  • Alignment with the mission of Aatmanirbhar Bharat

Eligibility Criteria

Core logistics and special categories

  • The company applying for the award must be a company registered in India among companies
  • Act 1956 or a partnership registered under the Limited Liability Partnership Act 2008,
  • The company must hold all applicable commercial or trade specific registrations (example: CE, GST registration, etc.)
  • There should have been no defaults by the Company or any of its promoters or any of its group companies in the last three years (FY 2019-20, 20-21, 21-22 (preliminary)).
  • The company must provide audited financial statements (balance sheet, income statement) for the last three financial years (FY 2019-20, 20-21, 21-22 (preliminary))

startups

  • The startup should be a DPIIT-approved startup. The company must provide its certificate of incorporation or partnership certificate.
  • The company must have a hardware or software product or process solution that exists on the market.
  • The company must have all applicable trade or trade-specific registrations (Example: CE, FSSAI, MSME, GST registration, etc.
  • There should have been no defaults by the Company or any of its promoters or any of its group companies in the last three years (FY 2019-20, 20-21, 21-22 (preliminary)).
  • The company must provide audited financial statements (balance sheet, income statement) for the last three financial years (FY 2019-20, 20-21, 21-22 (preliminary))
  • Companies registered in the 2019-20 financial year or later are required to provide the financial statements applicable to the incorporation and subsequent financial years.

MSME

  • The company should be a recognized MSME company. The company must provide its certificate of incorporation or partnership certificate.
  • The company must have all applicable trade or trade-specific registrations (Example: CE, MSME, GST registration, etc.)
  • There should have been no defaults by the Company or any of its promoters or any of its group companies in the last three years (FY 2019-20, 20-21, 21-22 (preliminary)).
  • The company must provide audited financial statements (balance sheet, income statement) for the last three financial years (FY 2019-20, 20-21, 21-22 (preliminary))
  • Companies incorporated in FY 2019-20 or later are required to provide financial statements applicable to the incorporation and subsequent financial years
