DPA Chairman oversees restoration of port operations to Biparjoy

SK Mehta, IFS, Chairman of the DPA, visited the Kandla port area to inspect and ensure that the port area’s restoration work is in full swing in light of the damage caused by cyclone ‘Biparjoy’. Capt. Pradeep Mohanty, Dy. conservator; Raveendra Reddy, chief engineer; GRV Prasada Rao, Traffic Manager and senior port officials accompanied the Chairman’s visit.

The port is now fully operational, six ships have already docked, another 15 ships are in line and will be docked by tomorrow. The first ship, MV Yihai, was docked at Cargo Pier No. 03 after the cyclone.

Within less than 24 hours of the impact of extremely severe cyclone Biparjoy, the DPA began restoring port operations to normal. Land and shipyard operations at the dry cargo berths in the port area of ​​Kandla resumed on 06/17/2023 at 07:00. The movement of the ship then began on June 17, 2023 at 10:48 a.m. at OOT Vadinar, Jamnagar. In addition to the restoration work in the port area, the DPA community of Gopalpuri is also being restored.
