Dhanbad’s railway division ranks 24th among 58 divisions in cargo loading for the first two months of the fiscal year

The East Central Railway’s (ECR) Dhanbad Railway Department has again set a new record in freight loading and revenue in the first two months of the current fiscal year, an official said on Friday.

Dhanbad Division Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Kamal Kishore Sinha said it was the highest among 58 railway departments across the country.

In April and May of the current fiscal year, Dhanbad Division recorded a cargo loading of 31.18 million tons, which is 9.13 percent more than last fiscal year, he said.

The division had achieved a cargo load of 28.57 million tons in the first two months of 2022/23.

Dhanbad Division has earned Rs.4,143. 56 crore from cargo shipments in the first two months of the current fiscal year, up 13.7 percent from April-May of the previous fiscal year, he added.

Also in fiscal 2022–23, the division had achieved a record in cargo handling and revenue among all 58 divisions in the country.

The department recorded a cargo load of 171.32 million tons in the previous financial year and generated a turnover of Rs. 23,006 crore, which was also the highest among any railway departments in the country.
