DB Schenker Logistics chooses Foton Tornado EV trucks

DB Schenker Philippines, the local arm of 150-year-old German company DB Schenker, a global leader in logistics solutions, has taken delivery of the country’s first commercially available all-electric truck, the Foton Tornado 3.6 EV Truck.

“We at Foton Motor Philippines are delighted to have been selected by DB Schenker Philippines as the supplier of their first all-electric truck, the Foton Tornado 3.6 EV Truck. We are honored to be an integral part of this groundbreaking partnership,” said Levy Santos, General Manager at Foton Philippines.

Utilizing the same EV technology found in high-end electric cars and SUVs, the Foton Tornado 3.6 EV features a permanent magnet synchronous motor with peak power of 154 hp and 300 Nm of torque. This is enough to accelerate the electric truck from 0 to 50 km/h in just 9 seconds and reach a top speed of 90 km/h. The range on a full charge is 208 kilometers (according to global WLTP standards), while charging can be done via an AC or DC charger (2-4 hours on DC and 12 hours on AC from 20% to 100% charge).

The Tornado 3.6 EV Truck has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 6,000 kilograms with a payload of 3,600 kilograms and an unladen weight of 2,400 kilograms. It measures 5,960 x 1,925 x 2,260 mm (LxWxH) and has a wheelbase of 3,360 mm.

Comfort, convenience and safety features include air conditioning, multimedia audio system (MP3/Aux/USB), adjustable steering wheel, power windows, central locking with remote control key, reverse sensor, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake booster Sales ( EBD), among many others.

The Foton Tornado 3.6 EV (in cab and chassis form) costs PHP 3.6 million.
