CJ Logistics and Evergreen sign logistics cooperation agreement

South Korea’s CJ Logistics has entered into a joint cooperation with Taiwan-based global shipping company Evergreen Marine Corporation to improve sea transportation and expand shipment volume.

The South Korean company announced on Friday that it has signed a strategic business agreement to strengthen global logistics at Evergreen’s headquarters in Taoyuan City, Taiwan.

Evergreen Marine is a global shipping company that transports containerized cargo worldwide and ranks sixth in the world in terms of vessel capacity. It is part of Evergreen Group, along with Taiwan’s national airline EVA Air.

Under the terms of the business agreement, both companies agreed to actively work together to provide competitive rates and space on vessels for containerized cargo between Korea, China, Japan and other Asian regions, as well as the United States and Europe.

They also agreed to work together to expand the volume of freight in sea container transportation between Asia and Southeast Asia through joint sales. They plan to jointly develop further services, for example an end-to-end service that transports containerized freight continuously from the sender to the recipient by land and sea.

Notably, with the recent agreement, CJ Logistics has opened up the possibility of strategic cooperation with global shipping companies such as France’s CMA-CGM, Hong Kong’s OOCL and China’s COSCO, which are part of the Ocean Alliance shipping alliance, of which Evergreen is a part.
