Munnar will host next time Chintan Shivir organized by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways on May 21st and 22nd, 2023.
At the two-day meeting, which will be opened by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the mountain station, the goals for the next six months for each port will be discussed. Assessing the completion of various major port projects to be ready for inauguration by October; ATR (Action Reports) on the achievement of the goals set during the previous Chintan Shivirs etc.
In addition, there will be an exclusive interaction between the Minister and the major port HODs to share their ideas. sessions on lighthouse tourism; India is becoming a global player in shipbuilding and improving its tonnage.
The May 22 session will focus on improving the share of cargo handled by major ports; system improvements to optimize port call procedures; Smart Ports (digitization and standardization of all port documents and procedures in major ports for smooth operation and operations of ships).
There will also be sessions on inland waterways and coastal shipping to increase freight traffic.
