AD Ports introduces VTMIS technology to improve maritime security

AD Ports Group will implement a state-of-the-art Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS) for its operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of its ongoing investment program in innovative solutions to improve safety and productivity.

The new technology will be implemented in Khalifa Port, Zayed Port, Free Port, Musaffah Port and Al Dhafra Region Ports in UAE.

Once deployed, the new technology is expected to improve AD Ports Group’s ability to monitor cargo directly from the command center at the Port of Khalifa in areas up to 300 kilometers away.

This initiative is AD Ports Group’s latest step in implementing advanced digital solutions in the country. In addition, according to AD Ports Group, the development of an advanced and fully integrated VTMIS is a critical requirement for creating an improved Ports Community System (PCS) and ensuring the safety of life at sea (SOLAS).

Furthermore, the system ensures the integration and linking of all assets in a port and marine environment by combining tools such as radar, CCTV, radios, meteorological systems, radio direction finders and towers. This gives port managers real-time data and improves ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore contact.

“AD Ports Group has made this investment in a state-of-the-art Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS) to maximize the safety and efficiency of our port and maritime operations,” said Ammar Al Shaiba, Acting CEO of Maritime Cluster and Safeen Group , AD ports group.
